On Wednesday, many users of the popular dating app Tinder became frantic when they could not log into the app because the Facebook login feature was broken.
Some users expressed annoyance with the issue on Twitter. MacKenzie Simms even called out an SOS in order to get the service working again. Another user, named Michael O. Rice II, expressed dismay because he says that he had wanted to cancel a date, and now he could not.
Though not all Tinder users were upset over the shutdown. David Leavitt was actually happy that he could not log onto the service, as he had met a woman there who was wanting a real relationship, and that was the very last thing he wanted. Melissa Weird actually thanked the powers that be who logged her out, and Leila Waits said that she thought that either God or the FBI had logged her out, and either way she said that it was probably for the best.
At least two users claimed that not only were they logged out, but that Tinder had deleted all their matches and messages. Though one user named Jacki Hope saw this as a sign to stop using the app.
While Tinder has yet to make a formal response as to what happened, many think that the problem relates to recent changes Facebook made to the way third-party apps, such as Tinder, can access data on the social media platform.
However, the issue has now seemed to have been resolved. Though users who are still having problems logging into the app should trying using Tinder’s website instead.
