Peter Dinklage, who currently plays Tyrion Lannister in “Game of Thrones,” is in talks with Marvel Studio to discuss the possibility of his playing a role in both “Avengers: Infinity War” and its sequel, which does not have a title yet. The only thing known so far known about the plot of “Infinity War” is that the Avengers will confront the supervillain Thanos. There is as yet no word on Dinklage’s role, either.
While Dinklage’s character will be new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this will not be his first foray into superhero movies. He had played the villainous Dr. Bolivar Trask in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” This makes him the first person, other than the cameo-loving Stan Lee, to play roles in both the MCU and Fox’s X-Men movies.
Dinklage’s role will be the first new character to appear in “Infinity War.” All of the other known characters have appeared in earlier MCU films. In addition to the Avengers and Thanos, Spider-man, the Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are expected to turn up.
Dinklage, who was born in 1969, has been acting since the mid-1990s. His first major role was in the 2003 film “The Station Agent.” That same year, he appeared in the Will Ferrell movie “Elf.” He also had a recurring role in the TV drama ”Nip/Tuck.” In 2011, began playing his best-known character, Tyrion Lannister. According to “Variety,” the show runners have recently finished producing “Game of Thrones’” seventh season and won’t start filming until the fall. That allowed Dinklage to fit “Infinity War” into his schedule, since it is slated to start filming early this summer. “Infinity War” is expected to premiere in May 2018.
