With the Superbowl coming up, many people are on the edge of their seats, wondering if their favorite teams will win. Then there are those who don’t care about football and just want to know what sort of weird commercials will be shown.
According to Dateline, fans of The Incredibles may be in luck, then: it claims that a commercial for its highly anticipated sequel may be showing, along with presumed trailers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther (which is scheduled for release on February 16) and/or Avengers: Infinity War (May 4).
The Disney-Pixar flick is about a family of superheroes living in a world where their antics have been outlawed, but hope to now re-legalize their heroic activities. It is due out June 15.
What is somewhat surprising, however, is that it is currently not looking as if Disney will drop a trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is due out on May 25. Deadline itself notes that the film needs to start promoting if it wants to keep that date, as so far next to nothing has been released. (In contrast, Incredibles 2 got a short teaser in November.)
Solo has had a troubled production, replacing its directorial team, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, when production was almost complete, reportedly due to creative differences with the studio. Their replacement, Ron Howard, has apparently redone the movie almost from scratch; if he has been having trouble reworking it, it may explain why a trailer is so late.
Some rumors say that Disney already is expecting Solo to bomb, which would be especially bad after the mixed reception of last year’s The Last Jedi.
