Fans of both Marvel and Disney can rejoice: Disney has announced plans to bring more superhero-themed areas to their amusement parks in Anaheim, Paris and Hong Kong.
To some extent, this new wave has already started. It was introduced last year when Disney California Adventure premiered the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! The ride proved to be a popular experience, so Disney has naturally announced more Marvel expansions at three locations worldwide.
Replacing the old area inspired by Pixar’s 1998 film A Bug’s Life, Disney has yet to reveal too much about this new attraction, but they promise it will be a “completely immersive Super Hero universe.” Spider-Man appears to be involved, as well as at least some of the Marvel Avengers, but anxious fans will just have to wait. The new Disneyland Resort attraction is scheduled for an initial 2020 launch, with even more content in the months and years to follow.
Likewise, the new Marvel expansions at Disneyland Paris are also scheduled for a 2020 release, and likewise appear to focus on Iron Man and his fellow avengers. Similar to how Disneyland Resort precipitated their new attraction with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney will launch the Marvel experience in France with the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes, scheduled for June 10 to September 30 of this year.
Hong Kong Disneyland already has the Iron Man Experience, one of the most popular attractions at the resort. Iron Man will be joined by Ant-Man and The Wasp, with others possibly to follow. Unlike the new attractions at Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris, no release date has been announced for the arrival of Ant-Man.
These superheroes are the next in a long line of popular movie franchise turned amusement park. With Marvel heroes finally receiving the theme park treatment, could DC be next?
