Anyone who grew up in 90’s likely has fond memories of the Nickelodeon children’s show Blue’s Clues. If you happen to want to relive your childhood and have the ability to act, though, the role of a lifetime might just be yours for the taking.
To coincide with an announced revival of the series, Nick has recently release a casting call for a new Steve starting on April 18, 2018. According to the listing, the company is looking for men and women of all ethnicities, generally between the ages of 18 and 25, who can host the show during its 20 episode revival (and potentially beyond).
Continuing, they state they are looking for those with a background in comedy, a natural in front of the camera, and the ability to make those watching at home “feel important, respected, and smart.” Being able to sing, play guitar, or juggle are also seen as a plus.
Since it began in 1996, Blue’s Clues has been a beloved childhood staple for generations of kids, due in no small part to the character of Steve as the charismatic, fun, and relatable protagonist that helped to lead the young viewers through each episode’s adventure with tenderness and care.
This would not be the first time the host of the show was recast, as the original Steve (played by actor Steve Burns) left the show after about 100 episodes for personal reasons, with Joe (Donovan Patton), Steve’s younger brother in the show, coming in to take his place. As neither will be reprising their roles for the revival series, it only makes sense for Nick to try to cast a wide net to find a worth replacement.
If you happen to be the kind of energetic, funny, and outgoing person with a love of children’s television and a healthy does of 90’s nostalgia, this might just be the break you’ve been looking for.
