Rampage to Break “Curse” on Video Game Adaptations?

Movies based on video games are awful. This is a generally accepted rule, anyway; after many terrible entries into the genre (particularly by Uwe Boll), many gamers are skeptical of any attempt to turn their favorite passtimes into a box office success.

Brad Peyton hopes to beat those odds, however, with his upcoming Rampage adaptation starring Dwayne Johnson.

“I didn’t know about this quote-unquote ‘video game curse’ until about two weeks after I finished the movie,” he admitted in a discussion with IGN.

In any adaptation, you need to deliver the story as it already exists, which can be particularly difficult for video games. “As a gamer, I know, I play as the hero. That’s an immersive medium, and so, it’s really hard to go up against something that pre-exists.”

Rampage may be harder than most games due to its unconventional story. On the one hand, it is a pretty traditional monster film in the style of Godzilla or King Kong, about a trio of giant animals that smash up cities. The thing is, in this game, you play the monsters, with humans as the enemies to be destroyed.

Enter Johnson’s character, a primatologist named Davis Okoye. He has a special bond with one of the monsters, George the Gorilla; presumably, he will try to protect the rampaging animals at the same time that he attempts to rein them in and keep them from destroying the city.

Whether or not it will break the video game movie curse remains to be seen, but Peyton seems to have the right idea on how to do it.

“Monster movies are meant to be fun,” he says simply, and he hopes to embrace the genre’s cheesy goodness.

How Ted Bauman Dives Into the Workday

In 2013, Ted Bauman, the current editor of columns such as The Bauman Letter, Plan B Club, and Alpha Stock Alert, joined Banyan Hill Publishing, after spending 25 years working as an executive in the nonprofit division, where he played a large role in securing funds for a number of housing projects. Shortly after arriving in South Africa, Ted Bauman attended The University of Cape Town, where he studied economics and history as a postgraduate. He has spent the majority of his life helping people to garner resources that will allow them to live autonomous lives, free of government micromanagement and corporate avarice. Throughout his career, Mr. Bauman has garnered a significant client portfolio, working with a number of well-established institutions, including the United Nations and the World Bank. Mr. Bauman returned to the United States in 2008 after a 25-year run abroad, taking a position with Habitat For Humanity. In 2013, he decided to dedicate his life to writing and research on a full-time basis, joining Banyan Hill Publishing. He recently authored a book, along with his father, former United States Congressman, Robert Bauman, entitled “Where to Stash Your Cash (Legally).” Today, he is a resident of Atlanta, GA, where he lives with his family. One of the most important factors in Ted Bauman’s life is time management. While he wouldn’t consider himself a master of this practice, he has come to realize over time that the morning is the optimal time for him to begin work, as he is much more efficient. His day can sometimes begin as early as 5:00 am when he is persistent about getting extra work done, but he normally begins shortly after dropping his daughter off at school. He has made it a custom to tackle his hardest work in the early part of the day, which throughout his career, has proven to be an effective method.

Keeping his readers engaged through his narrative voice is something that Ted Bauman constantly stresses, and in doing so, he always attempts to stay abreast of the growing trends within his readership. One trend that he has noticed, is that people are currently paying much closer attention to, is the willingness of western governments to adhere to the requests of large corporations, being that they are the ones that are ultimately affected. He’s learned that people today are much more willing to question the government’s relationship with major corporations.

Seattle’s Rainforest Dome : The Amazon Spheres

Seattle is celebrating the grand opening of The Spheres, Amazon’s miniature rainforest and office. It is made of half domes filled with 40,000 different plants from around the world. The Sphere took seven years and $4 billion to complete. From the outside, it looks otherworldly. The three orbs jet out of the earth, shiny from the glass exterior.

The largest sphere is the centerpiece and measures 130 feet across and 90 feet tall. Flanked on each side by two smaller domes, this most unusual work setting can house 800 people at a time. While some features remain the same, such as Wi-Fi and small meeting spaces, there are no traditional closed offices. This space is for workers to come and refresh, be with nature, and think differently.

The Sphere is biophilia, which means it has natural features, plants, and natural light. These outdoor inspired designs have shown to increase creativity in employees. Playfully named “the bird’s nest,” one gathering area literally hangs out under a mammoth tree.

The walls are alive with plants, and vertical gardens grow up to sky. Phragmipedium orchids cover one wall, a plant from South America with a similar appearance to slipper orchids. Another wall grows pitcher plants. A carnivorous plant that captures its prey in deep leaf-formed cavities filled with digestive enzymes.

Amazon’s rainforest in the middle of Seattle is open for visitors. The Spheres Discovery at Understory gives hours, parking instructions, and directions. The understory term means the area between the rainforest canopies but above the ground plants, and promises 360-degree views.

Tom Hanks to Play Mr. Rogers in Upcoming Movie

One of the most likeable actors in Hollywood today has signed on to portray one of the most beloved television stars of the past fifty years.

Tom Hanks will portray Mr. Rogers, the longtime host of the children’s television show “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood”, in a movie entitled “You Are My Friend”.

The movie takes its inspiration from the real-life friendship between Mr. Rogers and a journalist named Tom Junod. In the film, a world-weary and cynical journalist is assigned to write a profile on Rogers, and in the process of working on the feature finds a new perspective on life through his interactions with his subject.

The script for “You Are My Friend” has been in the works since 2013, and has annually made the list of most outstanding scripts not yet made into a movie. As a result, there’s great anticipation for the film now that the movie has finally received the green light.

Marielle Heller, best known for directing the movie “Diary of a Teenage Girl”, will be directing “You Are my Friend”, using the script written by Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue.

For Hanks, this will mark yet another direction in his already long and storied career, one that will see him assume the role of a man known to multiple generations of children as the quintessential kindly neighbor. With Hanks’ charisma and stately charm, it’s no wonder that he was the first choice to assume the role.

Hanks has more than a little experience playing a real-life role. In fact, he recently played a real-life editor-in-chief in award-nominated film “The Post”.

It’s not known when “You Are my Friend” will begin shooting. Hanks has a number of upcoming projects in the near future which might provide issues when it comes to scheduling, including “Toy Story 4”.

“Gambit” Production Put on Hold

Bad news for fans of the Ragin’ Cajun, as word comes in that production of the Gambit movie is on hold after losing another director.

Gore Verbinski, the most recent person to take control of this project, recently left; as a result, the studio is apparently going to put off the filming, which was set to begin in March in New Orleans.

Current set for release on Valentine’s Day 2019 (though that may change now), Gambit is a film in the X-Men franchise starring the titular mutant, who has the ability to make things that he touches explode; he is most famous for doing this to playing cards, which he throws at his opponents beforehand.

A lovable thief and inveterate womanizer, those behind the camera are hoping for his film to become the new Deadpool, but various production issues seem to be stymieing that goal.

As it stands, Gambit’s future is tenuous; like all the X-Men films, it is owned by Fox, but due to a deal struck with Disney last December, the movie rights to the Merry Mutants are now transferring to the Mouse House. This means that we could soon see Wolverine, Cyclops and Jean Grey fighting alongside the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that the various X-films in progress—also including X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants—could theoretically get canned at any time.

Nevertheless, Fox seems to be proceeding with them so far, and Disney itself has expressed an interest in keeping them running. Still, that may change for Gambit if it cannot get its production under control. Fans will just have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

Talkspace: bringing therapy into the 21st century

Users of Talkspace, an online therapy app, are reporting vast improvements to their mental health and general quality of life. The service, which currently serves around 500,000 people, will soon be available to many more. Magellan Health was in talks with Talkspace recently, and will soon offer customers of Magellan Health insurance access to the platform.

Oren Frank and his wife created Talkspace in 2012, and he currently acts as the CEO of the company. A study of thousands of United States veterans was proof to Frank that mental health care can work as an online platform. The study concluded that participants who had access to online mental health care were 25 percent less likely to be hospitalized due to mental health issues than subjects who did not have access to online therapy.

Talkspace offers several different plans for users to choose from. One plan, which costs $32 a week, gives users a customized daily text message from a mental health professional. Users of another plan, which runs $49 a week, receive multiple daily correspondences from their therapists as well as a monthly therapy session through video chat.

Talkspace is improving lives, and Oren Frank hopes that soon everybody, regardless of time restraints or income level, will be able to access mental health care online.

“Incredibles 2” May Get Superbowl Commercial, But Not “Solo”

With the Superbowl coming up, many people are on the edge of their seats, wondering if their favorite teams will win. Then there are those who don’t care about football and just want to know what sort of weird commercials will be shown.

According to Dateline, fans of The Incredibles may be in luck, then: it claims that a commercial for its highly anticipated sequel may be showing, along with presumed trailers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther (which is scheduled for release on February 16) and/or Avengers: Infinity War (May 4).

The Disney-Pixar flick is about a family of superheroes living in a world where their antics have been outlawed, but hope to now re-legalize their heroic activities. It is due out June 15.

What is somewhat surprising, however, is that it is currently not looking as if Disney will drop a trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is due out on May 25. Deadline itself notes that the film needs to start promoting if it wants to keep that date, as so far next to nothing has been released. (In contrast, Incredibles 2 got a short teaser in November.)

Solo has had a troubled production, replacing its directorial team, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, when production was almost complete, reportedly due to creative differences with the studio. Their replacement, Ron Howard, has apparently redone the movie almost from scratch; if he has been having trouble reworking it, it may explain why a trailer is so late.

Some rumors say that Disney already is expecting Solo to bomb, which would be especially bad after the mixed reception of last year’s The Last Jedi.

Troy McQuagge Has Been Aiding The Community Through HOPE For Almost A Decade at US Health

For almost a decade, Troy McQuagge USHealt has been making a difference in peoples lives all across the United States through his company and his initiative, HOPE. This is actually an acronym that stands for Helping Other People Everday and it is a mission that Troy and the USHEALTH Group value above all else. For Troy and many others at the USHEALTH Group, HOPE is a way of living and a constant mission for every day. Troy started at the USHEALTH Group back in 2010 at one of the company’s subsidiaries. It was at this time that Troy started up the HOPE initiative. Since then, Troy has become the Chief Executive Officer and President of the USHEALTH Group and he has brought the company a huge amount of success and awareness.

HOPE’s first steps at helping out the community at large were aiding in the recovery of New Orleans by rebuilding the homes and lots that had been destroyed or flooded by Hurricane Katrina. There was a huge amount of support in wake of the New Orleans disaster, and the USHEALTH  Group worked with Pheonix of New Orleans on their project to provide disaster relief. Hundreds of man-hours went into rebuilding the community through the HOPE initiative. Read more about TroyMcQuagge USHealth on

Another branch of the HOPE initiative is HOPEKids Arizona, a non-profit part of the initiative that focuses on helping families and children that have terminal illnesses or chronic diseases. Troy McQuagge’s philanthropic efforts can be seen throughout his entire career, and the HOPE initiative is no different in this case. While the HOPE initiative brought a lot of success to the USHEALTH Group, that was never the main goal for Troy. Aiding people in need and building stronger more positive communities is the mission. As a primary focus for the company and its staff, helping others is taken very seriously and there is constant research into expanding the HOPE initiative to spread even more goodwill around the world. Even if HOPE brings the USHEALTH Group more sales and success, this is a good thing under the leadership of Troy McQuagge since he will continue to expand the philanthropic capabilities of the company.
